Inspired by a desire to change the way you think
about your kitchenware, one tree at a time.
Honest Roots Design + Trade is inspired by a passion for the earth and it's bounties, by the love of taking a fresh harvest and making true gourmet cuisine, and an appreciation for taking something discarded and transforming it into something beautiful. We draw inspiration from the trees we salvage - from the entangled roots, the crooked trunks, to the hidden grain underneath the bark - all a story waiting to be revealed. We aspire to create something to be cherished for generations to come and to provide the perfect tools to make memories with loved ones. We have a true love and appreciation for making something by hand - whether a hand-carved spoon or a fresh loaf of bread. You won't find any computer operated machinery in our shop, or any imported exotic woods. Instead, you will find a set of wood carving chisels, several pieces of worn out sandpaper, an assortment of scrap wood pieces, and two shop dogs sleeping in the sawdust.
We believe in simplicity, quality, and excellence. We believe in treating the land and Earth's resources as if they're gold. We believe in doing what you love. We believe in locally owned and operated. We believe in made in the USA. And we believe that the result of these is something with an enduring elegance, durability and inspiration not found elsewhere. Our items reflect a deep appreciation for the land, a love for family, and a passion for entertaining. Made from trees whose roots grow deeply in our Southern soil, each piece preserves our heritage and reminds us of our connection to the land. Each piece is traditionally crafted from the finest Tennessee hardwoods- exclusively locally sourced. We love sharing a bit of our life with you through the beautiful items we create for you. We are delighted to have the opportunity to share a common interest with you...the love of handcrafted quality, beautiful kitchen utensils, and a delicious home crafted meal. It is our desire to change the way you think about your kitchenware, one tree at a time.
